If a wireless device is lost, a simple right-click from your management console lets you access the device via carrier connection to clear its memory card; delete contacts, address book data and e-mail; perform a reset and more.
LANDesk® Handheld and Embedded Device Manager lets you automate asset discovery and inventory management in addition to asset monitoring and change control alerting. Its lightweight inventory scanner catalogs detailed hardware and software attributes and stores them in a central inventory database for license tracking, reporting and change control as well as easy targeting for handheld software deployments to increase efficiency.
LANDesk® Handheld and Embedded Device Manager makes it easy to distribute software packages and updates to both your wired and wireless devices using LANDesk® Management Suite’s familiar task scheduler. You can use a zero-touch process to automatically update client-side agents. And LANDesk® Handheld File Exchange™ technology makes it easy to push out key documents or price lists to selected handhelds and to pull critical data files up to the core server for automated data collection.
LANDesk® Handheld and Embedded Device Manager is optimized for the low-speed, intermittent connections typical of handheld devices. Dynamic bandwidth throttling adjusts automatically for slower wireless connections, so software distribution tasks don’t monopolize bandwidth. And data compression reduces total traffic sent over wireless links. While checkpoint restart helps ensure that if a task is interrupted, it’s completed at the next available opportunity.
